Dawn Chorus walks a success
This year we hosted 2 Dawn Chorus walks here at Waterhay Farm. The first in late April was with the Cotswold Waterpark Trust, the second a week later in early May was exclusively for our own beef customers. For both we had great weather. A little chilly at 5am, but it quickly got light and warmer. For both walks we clocked up nearly 50 species hear or seen, highlights beeing 3 Cuckoos seen, 2 at close range, Great White Egrets floating over us again close enough to distinguish the key features, and a full range of warblers (Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Willow Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Cettis and Garden). Both walks finished with a fry up and croissants back in the tractor shed, which seemed to go down well.
A big thanks to all who attended, to Kim Milsom and Nick Adams for their expert leadership and my wife for helping with the catering.
